Wax resist

This is an Easter card I made. I used a technique called "wax resist." To make your own card using this technique you will need:

  • Cup of water
  • Cup of acrylic paint (just a little bit)
  • Empty cup
  • Dropper
  • White crayon
  • Paintbrush
  • Cardstock
  • Heavy books
  1. Draw a design that you want to be seen using a white crayon onto cardstock.
  2. Run the cardstock under water to wet it down (Get it soaked but don't tear it).
  3. Mix a little bit of paint with a little water in your empty cup using your paintbrush.
  4. Suck up some diluted paint with your dropper.
  5. Squirt it on to the paper. You can tilt the paper around to spread the paint. Let it run off the page too.
  6. Let it dry and set it under heavy books to get the wrinkles out.
If you want an easier version follow the steps below:

    1. Draw a design that you want to be seen using a white crayon onto cardstock.
    2. Use a paint roller or a large paint brush to paint over the cardstock.
    3. Let it dry and set in under heavy books over night.
